Well, she said, I’m back. 🙂 I hope 2017 has been treating you well thus far; I know 2016 was a rough year for far too many of us. Here’s to hoping this will be better one for all – the only way is up, amirite?

So let’s start the simming year off with an upload that’s bound to lift your spirits – if you’re a Sim, at least. 😉 My first upload of 2017 is two kinds of scented candles, inspired by IKEA’s BRÄCKA and SPRALLA candles. And for Sims, they’re scented for real.

In case you didn’t guess it from the category already, these are functional and not just decorative. (You know me, if I can make something functional, then I’m going to make it functional, gorrammit!) When lit, at regular intervals the candles will release a cloud of pollen dust, that has a 50% chance of increasing the mood of the Sims in the room. Also, the active Sim will have the option to “Smell Scent” (that unfortunately will be “smell scent” even if you play in a different language than English, except Swedish); then the chance of a mood boost will be much greater, but it will only affect the Sim smelling the candle.

But there’s more! As a perk (you know I love those), if you have FT, every once in a while the Sim who’s smelling the candle will also gain enthusiasm. 🙂 In what? I hear you ask. Your guess is as good as mine – it’ll be completely random. Could be Nature, could be Sports, could be Science, could be something else entirely.

Enthusiastic Smelling

Now. The candles. First you have a candle in a glass, inspired by IKEA’s BRÄCKA scented candle. It comes in the same colours as the BRÄCKA candles (which were blue, pink, brown and reddish “mixed colours” when I started making it), but I’ve added some greens and yellows as well. You only get the one, clear recol for the glass, but it can of course be recoloured. (Screenshots are taken with additional lamps in the room, BTW, the candle itself doesn’t give off this much light. Because it’s, you know, a candle. 😛 )

Candle No. 2 is a candle in a pot, loosely inspired by the SPRALLA scented candle. The candle only has two recols, white and yellow (vanilla and lemon?), but the pot comes in sixteen (mostly) IKEA-inspired patterns from COLOURlovers. Patterns are named for their respective creators.

Things I like: lighting, nice shapes/proportions, cute patterns, unexpectedly functional stuff… and these are all four! Thank you 🙂

Jackpot candles, hee. 😀 Very glad you like them! But you know me, if I can make something “unexpectedly functional” (love it!), you know I’m gonna. 😉

Thank you – it’s great to be back! (Especially when you get this kind of warm welcome.) 😀 And yeah, right now it feels like I’ve got a fairly decent supply of spoons. Hopefully, they’ll stick around for a while. And you’re most welcome, I’m very glad you like these. 🙂 And thanks for commenting!

I’m glad you like them. 😀 And I love functionality, both as a player and as a modder, so if I can make something actually do something and not just look pretty, then I’m gonna. 🙂

Awww, you sweetie, you! ❤ It's great to be back; I honestly didn’t think that I’d get this kind of overwhelming welcome. 🙂 And I’m so glad you like the candles (including the title; it made me I wince a little, but it was one of those things I just had to do), they were fun to make. The hardest part was limiting myself when it came to patterns for the cup, there are so many gorgeous patterns at COLOURlovers, I could easily have made fifty more recols. 😉
