Two Invisible Floor Lamps

Two Invisible Floor Lamps

Category: Lighting -> Floor Lamps
Cost: $5
Poly Count: Low poly
EPs Required: None – base game compatible

I know, there are invisible lamps out there already (some of them made by me). There are ceiling lamps and wall lamps, and that’s great… but sometimes, you get the best lighting for your picture from a floor lamp. Problem is, when you’re setting up your photo shoot and finally have your Sims where you want them and the light where you want it and the camera where you want it, very often that floor lamp will be in your face (or at least taking up a significant part of the screen).

I don’t know about you, but I don’t like lamps in my face. πŸ˜› So, I’ve made two invisible floor lamps to help with this.

Like with my other invisible lamps, there are two variations, one with a softer, yellow light and one with a harder, more fluorescent-ish one. You can of course have both in your game at the same time. Neither of them has a shadow, not even a sun shadow – but they do have a coloured recolour, so you can see where you’re placing them if need be.

Soft Light, Hard Light

Also, I’ve made it so that the lamps intersect both objects and Sims, so you can place them inside other objects without using cheats. You can even place them inside a Sim if you want to. (I’m not sure why you’d want that, but whatever floats your boat. πŸ˜› )

Lamp in Sim
“Yeah, that’s hilarious. No, really. I’m laughing myself silly.”

      I thought you might be interested in these. πŸ˜‰ I must admit I made these just as much for myself as for others; I like floor lamps, I think their light is great for Sims especially, but they would always get in the way. Eventually, I got fed up with it and made invisible ones. πŸ™‚

    My son is always making up nonsense phrases. One of the ones he uses in place of “Good Job” is “Excellent Plankton”. I will dub these lamps as Excellent Plankton.

      Yay! :mrgreen: And yeah, I do not like taking indoor screenshots at all (which is probably why I try to take them outdoors as far as possible πŸ˜‰ ), I always think they’re too dark. So the more lamps, the merrier, I say!

    I’ve been using (since they were released) your invisible ceiling and wall lights in EVERY home. This will get much use as well.

    Thank you! πŸ™‚

      LOL, that’s brilliant! πŸ˜€ I must admit it took me a little while to figure out what was going on – but once I did, I was full of admiration, because it must have taken some dedication to set up all those “pulses” like that. Thanks for showing me!

      And yeeh, the files ought to be tiny, there’s almost nothing in them. πŸ˜‰ The meshes are a whopping 12 polys each, and the texture image for the yellow recol is just 64×64, so it’s not even 1 kB in size. And the invisible recol doesn’t even have a texture image, it’s just an almost-empty TXMT. And it’s the mesh and the texture that takes up space, so (almost) without those, the files are very light. Which is good if you want to do things like set up pulse lasers. :mrgreen:
