(All right, so I might need to work some on my poetry skills. πŸ˜› )

So, a Yeti was going on a blind date. Now, this Yeti wanted to give their date a romantic gift for the occasion, something they knew said date would appreciate and cherish forever. Obviously, they wanted to give them… an outhouse. But not just any old outhouse! No, Yeti wanted it to be something like Veranka’s all-in-one bathroom, that raises Sims’ hygiene as well as their bladder. They asked me if I’d like to collaborate with them in making it, and since I really like Yetis (especially this one), I said yes. πŸ™‚

The result was the “Smells Like Roses” Outhouse.

Update, 28 April 2015: As requested by godlimpingby, there is now a variation that doesn’t raise hygiene. See the end of the post for more info.

As per Yeti request, when your Sims use this outhouse, both their bladder and their hygiene will go up. Not only that, it advertises for hygiene as well, so Sims won’t just seek it out when their bladder is low, but also if their hygiene is. The same goes for Plantsims who are dehydrated. (Much as I’d like to take credit for that, I can’t; it’s all Maxis’ doing. If something advertises for hygiene, it advertises for water as well.) Also, it won’t get clogged and it won’t get dirty. Because an outhouse getting clogged wouldn’t make sense. πŸ™„

In addition to the one seen above, it comes with four smashing recolours, all made by my awesome co-conspirator – I mean, collaborator, Shastakiss. The roof and the outhouse are separate subsets, so you can mix and match the recols ’til your heart’s content. (The original mesh is from Turbosquid, but I’ve tweaked and remapped it a bit, better to suit my nefarious simming purposes. 😈 )

Shasta made such a great swatch, I’m just going to use theirs:

Of course, the outhouse is visible from neighbourhood view. It is a building after all, even if it’s a small one. πŸ˜‰

Known Issues

This was cloned from a toilet stall, so Sims can’t use it to dispose of potty liners (since they can’t with the original object). It won’t cause jump bugs or anything; your Sims will just stomp their feet angrily and then throw the potty liner in the trash instead, so it’s perfectly benign. Just so you’re aware of it, and know that I am as well. (This error seems to be hard-coded into the toilet stall, because I could not get around it no matter how hard I tried. Sorry.)

Also, when your Sims push the door open, their right hand will clip into it for a moment. It is just for a moment, though, and you can only really see it from certain angles. You’ll probably only notice it because I’ve told you. πŸ˜›

Special Thanks . . .

. . .to Shastakiss, who didn’t just request this, but who also was the best beta tester and noticed/suggested lots of things I hadn’t thought of. U rock! ❀

Update, 28 April 2015: As requested below, I’ve made a variation that doesn’t raise hygiene. Don’t how romantic your date will find it, though. πŸ˜‰

The no hygiene “Smells Like Advertised” Outhouse costs $45 (cheaper than the first one since it has fewer functions) and has the same Shastakiss recols as “Smells Like Roses”, but it’s not repositoried to it; to me, it seemed like you’d want one or the other in game, but not both. (It has its own GUIDs, though, so you can have them both in your game if you don’t think like me.)

    • Glad you like it! It was fun to make, especially since I had such a great partner in crime. πŸ˜€ I’m really glad she suggested this, too!

  1. I love you for this…I was planning on doing it myself but my penchant for getting distracted has made it yet to happen. Less work for me, and I know you’ve done it better than I would.

  2. Hello dear collaborator friend! The neighborhood view pic with the ‘school bus’ is killing me πŸ˜€ Thank you again for letting me share this splintery smelly incredibly fun project with you β™₯

    • Why, hello there! Right back atcha, you know I had tons of fun making this. πŸ˜€ We’ve got to do it again some time, we really do.

And you do not want to know how long I was hanging around in ‘hood view, waiting for that one. πŸ˜› I knew I wanted a “car” in the shot and that I wanted it to be either this one or the smaller hay-cart thingie, so of course those two had to be the most elusive. πŸ™„

    • No, no, no! This is a special outhouse! It… umm… it… it collects dew! That’s right, it soaks up dew during the night, and then when Sims use it, the dew gently drizzles over them and makes them all clean. (In winter, it’s of course melted snow.) That… sounds perfectly plausible, right? Right? ❓

Option #2, pixie fairy dust. Whatever floats your boat. πŸ˜‰

  3. Thank you so very much! This is so perfect! I’m using this for all my medieval houses πŸ™‚

    • Aww, thank you! ❀ It makes me very happy to hear that! I have lots of fun when I make them, even if I sometimes get a few more grey hairs in the process. πŸ˜‰

  4. Oh, this will be so perfect for some of the new lots I’m currently building.

It’s amazing how much work goes into starting a new neighborhood (really have to stop doing that every year πŸ™‚ ) and building all new lots as well. So, finding time and space saving objects are such a wonderful thing. Thank you!

    • Very glad you like it, and that it will be of use! πŸ˜€

I’m very impressed with people who build their own neighbourhoods from scratch, I’d never have the patience for it. If someone else provides the lots, then I can fill a ‘hood with them, but building… nope, that’s not my cup of tea. So it’s lucky for me that others like to build, not to mention that they’re much better at it than me, lest my poor Sims would have to sleep under the stars. πŸ˜‰

  5. I always put toilets in various places on my lot, because visitors arrive with a pressing need to use the facilities. I am so delighted with this creation, Nix and thanks also to Shastakiss for the smashing recolors.

    • Yeah, Sims can’t seem to get in into their little pixel heads that they should go before they leave the house. πŸ˜€ Glad you like this, and that you find it useful! And I love Shasta’s recolours, too, I really like that you have both rustic and neat ones to choose from.

      • Nix, I have grown so accustomed to having your All-in-One Outhouse, that now I don’t know how I played TS2 without it.

I was so excited about having this Rustic/Retro I didn’t read your funny intro. This is a Blind Date gift that keeps on taking.

        • You read it now, that’s the important thing. πŸ™‚ And I had waaay too much fun writing it up, but you probably guessed that already. πŸ˜‰

You have no idea (or maybe you do) how happy it makes me to hear you’re using this, because that’s what I strive for with the things I make: for them to be something that people don’t just download, but download and use. Sure, it makes me happy when someone say “I downloaded your [thing]!” – but what really brings a wide grin to my face and makes me bounce up and down in my chair and squee is when they say “I love your [thing], I use it everywhere and can’t live without it!” ‘Cause then I’ve accomplished my mission. So you’ve brought a grin to my face and made me squee today. ❀

      • You’re welcome. πŸ™‚ Unfortunately you the commenter can’t edit a comment, but I can since I have magic admin powerz. πŸ˜‰

Just so you know (and as I’m sure you’ve noticed), BBCode doesn’t work here, it only works on forums. You have to use HTML code instead, so bold looks <B>like this</B> and italics <I>like this</I>. (The tags for links and images are a little different, but there you can just copy and paste the URL into your comment and it will be turned into a clickable link automatically.)

You know, I actually think I’m going to make a little sticky post about it (that you have to use HTML and not BBCode, I mean) because you are not the only one who’ve tried to use BBCode and I’m sure you won’t be the last, either. I don’t mind cleaning up comments, but WordPress is prone to mark it as spam if you use BBCode and it’s very easy for me to miss a comment if it’s in my spam queue – or worse, delete it accidentally if I’m not paying proper attention. 😦 So yeah. Definitely gonna make a sticky post.

  6. This is what happens when you succumb to RL stuff, you miss out on the Simmish Parties…I mean “Potties”. This is great Nix. Thanks for adding even MOAR functionality to our Simmishly Medieval worlds. πŸ™‚

    • Yeah, I know how that goes, I’ve had a bout of RL myself recently (hence the late reply – sorry!). But I’m so glad you like this! It’s TOTALLY Shasta’s fault, though, I never would have thought of this myself. πŸ™‚
